About the Composer
Kenneth Norman Johnson writes music and words in a wide variety of styles, often classically influenced with a jazz or pop flair. His catalogue of compositions includes musical stage productions, choral music, orchestral works, documentary film scores, a variety of songs, and numerous piano works. He produces and directs his original works on stage and on recordings. Mr. Johnson began his career as a Music Educator and Administrator, but eventually moved on to devote all his time and energy to composing, producing, directing, and performing. He has released more than a dozen original solo piano recordings into the world market, including The Natural Piano, for which he received a Canadian Platinum award in 1996. In 2012 his composition “Starlight Theme” was nominated for a Western Canadian Music Award for Best Classical Composition of the Year. His current piano recordings in the Classique Piano Series – Soliloquy, Prelude, and Castles in the Snow are available in Cd format and as downloads on iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby and many other download sites. Current projects include two new Musicals: The Quest & Castles in the Snow which premiered to rave reviews in 2014; Soliloquy – his touring One Man Show; Masque – a dance focussed stage production (work in progress) ; a new musical (work in progress) and the publication of his productions and choral works in print. Mr. Johnson continues to write, produce, publish, and mentor performing artists at his home studio in Pender Harbour on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, Canada.
